Service Description

The Open Studio Creative Lab at El Schomburg is a welcoming space for artists, youth, and community members to explore ideas, experiment with materials, rehearse, create, and collaborate. This weekly drop-in program supports creative process at all stages — from early brainstorming to refining performance, text, movement, or visual work. Participants can: Develop personal or collaborative projects Explore movement, writing, music, or visual practices Experiment with cultural and ancestral themes Receive guidance or feedback when desired Work independently or alongside a community of makers The Creative Lab is designed to be flexible, accessible, and interdisciplinary, honoring the spirit of Puerto Rican and Afro-diasporic creativity. All are welcome — artists, students, adults, beginners, seasoned creatives, and anyone seeking a space to imagine and make.
